Paraphrasing Mexican writer Octavio Paz “Through others I am.”  I live my life by this dictum, especially in the way I teach and mentor students. Hence I am honoring here graduate students who have deeply influenced my life and way of thinking about engineering, development, social justice, etc. This list is about the people who have made me a better teacher, scholar, and mentor, not a record of committees chaired or dissertations advised or exams examined.
